Woke up at 8a.m. this morning and rolled over and went back to sleep. Today is my FIRST day off! :) Had a lazy start this morning...got up fixed this wonderful coffee that I brought with me from Rose Bud, AR one of my favorite Ozark coffees. Then My Housemate Kayla and I Had just a chill kinda of day....talked about where we are from (Kayla from Colorado) and what brought us here....I kinda have no clue what brought me here (more than likely my crazy ideas).  We just had a Great morning we talked until 4p.m. :) AWESOME! I was homesick of course when I first got here but now it's starting to feel more like home. :)  A lot has happened since my last post.... Last Friday-Monday I had the girls.... we went tadpole fishing, biking, swimming, exploring the island, out to dinner, shopping, and so much more....WE HAD FUN! Excited for the girls to come back from the mainland....looks like I am going to have a EXCITING summer!

Yesterday I got a package in the Mail from my Mom...Movies and shoes and lots of other cool stuff. It was like Christmas....in May. :)

I started my diet...well more strict on it....I have a goal by the time I go home I plan to be in a totally different weight....kinda excited. Because it is going well ....I joined the gym at one of the hotels on the island....not that I need it...I walk everywhere! :) Life is Great!
Today I walked to sunset rock to read, I love hearing the waves come in...so soothing...Could just sleep.    This is the FUDGE shop that I hear is WONDERFUL  I have had Michigan fudge but I hear theirs is the BEST!

Golly, Today was FULL OF STUFF! May 23,201

You would not believe the day I have had, yesterday I got a little home sick missing my friends and family...so I decided I would spend the day after work and go on an adventure.....so that is just what I did. :) I left the house at about 9a.m. I walked to town and went to the Post office to get a P.O. they said no because a SS Card was not a 2nd form of ID (WHAT IN THE WORLD) UGH!! Anyways got to go back tomorrow and clear that up. After all of that excitment I went to work for another day of tranning that last like an hour or so....I learned all the drinks...lol  Then I planned to walk down the road and look at all the shops....so that is just what I did...until I got to a tour horse buggy....I decited to take it....WE COVERED the WHOLE ISLAND it was AWESOME!!!  I have learned a lot from the tour...The gentleman whom gave the tour was quite the history buff! Aboriginal natives was the first on the Island They called it mish-la-mack-in-naw...The high bluffs they thought it resembled a reptile (A Turtle) So they decited to make it home  and  buried their dead in the Island's cave. Then French-Canadian Courieur de Bosi Jean Nicolet became one of the most important french western fur trader. Then moving on to the American Revolution War, Americans never threatened the British fort during the American Revolution and following the revolution obtained the Straits area by treaty.BUT,  problems with the British in nearby Canada led to the War of 1812. In July of 1812 a British force landed secretly on the far north end of Mackinac Island and forced the United States to surrender Fort Mackinac in the first engagement of that conflict. In 1814 the Americans attempted to regain the Island by also approaching from the north, but failed to defeat the British who in the meantime had fortified the high ground behind Fort Mackinac. The British and Americans fought the battle in the vicinity of the present day site of the Wawashkamo Golf Course. The British fortification was renamed Fort Holmes in honor of Major Andrew Hunter Holmes, a young American officer who died in the conflict. In 1815 the Island was restored once again to the Americans by treaty. Another Cool fact  Fort Mackinac's post surgeon William Beaumont saved the life of Alexis St. Martin after an accidental shotgun blast tore a hole in the young voyageur's stomach. When the hole never completely healed, the physician observed first hand what happens when food is digested in the stomach. His published experiments made medical history. So if you have a tummy ach this man figured out why and what to do.
Well guess that's all of a history Lesson I have for you today......I am sure there will be more....and more.....
For now it's time to get to bed!
Sweetdreams!!

First Day of Work! Tuesday, May 22,2012

OOOoooh goodness! The sun comes up sooo early...before 6a.m. CRAZY, then it does not go down till 9p.m..  Was kinda hard for me to go to sleep last night because I have a skylight in my room and when the sun is up or coming up it lights the whole room.  Today  was my first day at the Coffee Shop....I was a little nervous because I have never worked in a coffee shop before but it was WONDERFUL and easy....I LOVE IT!! I made all the hot coffee's and some of the cold....all but the Fraps that will be tomorrow....I tasted it all.....I am coffeeeeedddd OUT....dont't want anymore for a little while....but I am still drinking my tea... I brought my Tea Pot and Tea from home...and I AM SO GLAD I DID!!  I am working at the Local Starbucks for a little while just as a 2nd job till the girls get here full time! Everyone I am working with is really sweet!! :)    I walked to work this morning (MY FEET ARE KILLING ME, not my legs...but my feet.)Today I walked the outter part of the island it took 2 1/2 hrs the water was beautiful! The Breeze felt so nice.  I live on one side of the Island and work is on the other and I live up this HUGE HILL not one that is just stright up and down I  don't see the downside...it goes on for like 2 miles just a constant up hill. BUT, it was such a lovely walk....it felt great this morning!! BEAUTIFUL!! Love seeing all of the horses and loved seeing the little town wake up. I went and got some food today.... Celery, Ice, Water,Youguart, and Spinach. They did not have my egg whites....SAD DAY!!! But I will check the other store in town. I just went to the one down by my house....they really don't have much.... but enough for me all I wanted is (if you know me, you already know...) CELERY!! :) Tomorrow Depending on the weather after work...I plan to explore again! :)
That's all Folks! :) Lots of Love Sent Your way!!:)

A Little Island of Happiness!! :) Monday, May 21, 2012

A Little Island of Happiness!! :) Monday,  May 21, 2012

I can't tell you how HAPPY I am!! I LOVE IT HERE!! LOVE the house I am in....LOVE EVERYTHING THE ISLAND IS BEAUTIFUL!! I will say the ride up hill....to go home is NOOOOO FUN!!! I really dis-like it!!  But MAN OHHH MAN!! I LOVE IT !!!  I put my own touch on the room I am in, so it's very colorful! I did all but paint the walls....lol I need to find a lamp....really bad....need to make a trip to the mainland soon....The Island is nice because there is almost always a breeze. I love looking out to the what they call Beach but really a  Lake.....I have to say though it does look like the Ocean. BLUE BLUE water...never would have thought it was a lake. AT ALL! I love the fact too that I CAN SWIM AND NOT WORRY ABOUT SHARKS!! OOooh YEaH!! :)Let me tell you this...I went swimming as soon as I got here.....I was the only one. There water was only cold for the first 5 mins and then the coldness just goes away.  Well I will tell you a little about the Island Life....it is not much differant than home.... Instead of putting tags on my car....they go on my bike. Church is not just down the road....I have to take a ferry over and bike 5 miles. I normally drive to work and it takes me 15mins tops.....now I bike to work and it take ALL of 15mins plus to get there. At Home it's flat farm lands....here is KILLER Hills!! Shopping comes easy in Arkansas, Little Rock is just down the street.....HERE Shopping is called ONLINE or not at all. Cell Phone works most of the time if I stand on one foot and hold the phone as high as it will go.....or bike downtown. I think the list could go on and on.... I know it has opened my eyes a lot to see how comfy we are in our day to day lives. I think I am in LOVE with this Little ISLAND! Tomorrow I plan to go explore !! :)
Hope you guys Have a WONDERFUL WEEK!!!:)

MY BELT and Cell Phone Holder and other stuff I bought today
I also FOUND THIS GREAT GUM CALLED CLOVE GUM SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!
GOODIES AT THE FUDGE SHOP!!!

HERE!!!! OOOOHH MY MY MY!!!

I'm HERE!!! Ohhh My Goodness it is BEAUTIFUL! The Roadtrip was LONG and glad to be out of the Troll Ally which is  anything below the Bridge so the lower part of Michigan. Now I am a Yupper....folk here are called YUPPERS! haha  I spent most of my time in a little town called St. Charles it's a little town about 3hrs from here. It is quite cute, the town reminds me of the (Sitka) town off the movie The Proposal which was not really Sitka, AK, I forget what town they changed for that movie.  The whole town is what I would like of any town Downtown...all the businesses are in older building and the stripe shuts down about 5p.m.. The first couple of days here I was still on Arkansas time....but Michigan is ahead an hour....so I gained and lost a hour just within a few hours I feel.  I have been keeping my self busy....the first couple days in Michigan I spent with my Mom and Max (My Step-Dad) and his family, it was fun we went out on the bottom half of Lake Huron boating....it was AWESOME!!! Also another cool fact about this little town is there are a bunch of old railroad bridges they have paved and you can  walk or bike the rail way...it's like 10 miles to the next town....if you are not use to biking that much....your legs hurt the next day....trust me! But it was beautiful...farmlands, creeks, and neat old stores along the way. Something else I loved seeing is the barns on the farmland. They are all RED, look like something on a movie. Here in Michigan there are hardly no pools, people here have pounds that they swim in. You could not do that in Lonoke you would be swimming with the water snakes. But, here THEY say there are no snakes....well not hardly any anyways. I say maybe they don't have the kind of snakes we do back in ARK but they got some kind of snake. lol  I thought it was going to be super cold here, but it's been nothing but BEAUTIFUL!!! The first day here it was in the 40's but the sun was out so it was not to bad....they say it suppost to get to the 80's within the next couple of days... Today I spent the day in Mackinic City, MI (90 DEGREES...but felt like it was in the 60's cause of the wind off the Lake....)Which is where I will be getting back on the Ferry tomorrow....I took lots of pics today this is yet again another small cute town. I am staying the the cutest little hotel! :) I went SHOPPING TODAY!!! I went to the local Leather shop and bought a BELT that I just LOVE !! It has horses on it!! and some other things....if you are expecting letters I sent them out today! :) Going to bed pretty soon its almost 9-p.m. here and the sooner I go to bed....the sooner I get on that ferry!!! :) I will write again soon...... Love you guys!!! :)  The Internet is SLOWWWWWW so I cannot post any pictures but If you are friends with me on Facebook there are lots on there!

1,500 Miles Away from Home.....Mackinac Island

Hello Folks!

Coming up on the last week in Arkansas....for a bit! :)

Mackinac Island
“One Of The Top 10 Islands In The World.”
~Conde Nast Traveler
Just some cool facts about the Island...
Mackinac Island was a Native American Settlement before European Exploration in the 17th century....it was the Great Lakes fur trade. Which then lead to Fort Mackinac on the Island by the British during the American Revolutionary War. Severed as a Fort for two battles during the war 1812.
80 percent of the island is State Park....much of the island is historical preserved.
The Swimming Pool at The Grand Hotel was built for Esther Williams 1947 This Time for Keeps
1980 Somewhere in Time was filmed mostly on the Island.
Mission Point Resort was featured on Ghost Hunter's 2011 ( I will not be visiting there )
They have a TEA SHOP!!! :)
Bookstore!
There are no cars on the Island so my transportation.
Butterfly House!
Great hiking trails and of COURSE a ROCKY BEACH! :)
The list could go on and onnnnnnn......
Needless to say I AM EXCITED!!! :)
I am going to be living in Downtown Mackinac Island....I ferry over May 21st  and have a day to get settled in my place...and then WORK CALLS!!!

Well Hello Again....6 months later.....

Not so good at this blog thing at all.... been a while.
New Class Pet
Well life has been crazy these last 6 months. Crazy then Crazy now, me that is. August Our school year started at the FUMC, I spent most of that month getting ready for a toddlers class that me and another teacher was going to be teaching. I have now changed up my job I am in every class throughout the day. I really enjoy it a whole lot! At the School we have a few new pets This is Ratatouille she is a 10 month old rat, YES I said it RAT she is the sweetest thing ever! We also have a new Turtle named Franklin whom I adore!! He is not Shy by no means. I also ventured off to The Woodlands for a quick visit before the end of the Summer. Ooooh how I love that place. September was about the same as August. But October took the Cake with the most CRAZY month, because of Health issues I had to have Hysterectomy it was very hard for me to accept at first but I now this ok, and like my Family and friends has reminded me day in and day out God has a plan, and just knowing that makes everything ok. With Surgery comes days off (3 Weeks) Doc told me (6-8 Weeks) One week at home KILLED me so I can't image what 6 would have done. lol But he let me go back to work with light duty. But during that time I ventured off to Harding and spent time with my friends as I "relaxed" I got to take part in Lectureship at Harding. It was WONDERFUL! I also got to go on a little Arkansas  adventure with Gracie and Kayla to Jacksonport, AR State Park :)

Just a little History for you on the park...
"In the 1800s steamboats made Jacksonport a thriving river port. During the Civil War, the town was occupied by both Confederate and Union forces because of its crucial locale. Jacksonport became county seat in 1854, and constuction of a stately, two-story brick courthouse began in 1869. The town began to decline in the 1880s when bypassed by the railroad. The county seat was moved in 1891 to nearby Newport, and Jacksonport's stores, wharves and saloons soon vanished.
Today, exhibits in the park's 1872 courthouse and programs by park interpreters share the story of this historic river port. "

We all had a WONDERFUL time! :) Halloween. I actually went to a Haunted House this year and had a GREAT time. I showed out is what I did. :) Laughed and Cut up...better than screaming. lol
Then November Rolled in...... Thanksgiving.....this year was a little different I did not go to Grandma's with my family I stayed home with my animals. Had Whole Hog Pig with my Aunt and Family YUMO! :)

Johnson Christmas
Christmas with Grandpa
Well I guess since it is fresh on my mind ...... CHRISTMAS!! My Most Favorite time of year!! :)
Christmas was WONDERFUL!!! Towards the beginning of December I got to go to TEXAS and see my FRIENDS! SOOO glad I went, had a WONDERFUL time!
Our Christmas tree 2011
Then of course we had Johnson Christmas which is a Tradition we have every year! It's where the entire family gets together and we do "Santa" and eat LOADS of Good O'l Holiday Food!
Then Christmas Day I got to spend with my Grandpa Kenneth :) Had such a wonderful time. That night I went to see Chipwrecked it was CUTE!

Now January.....New Years Eve/Day I did nothing outside of home. lol
I enjoyed bring in the new year with my Dogs and a good movie.
January has been pretty busy so far, as far as working it has been Crazy busy....
